THE LOVE PIT: SAVING, REHABILITATING, AND ADVOCATING FOR BULLY-BREED DOGS

Imagine a world where every dog has a loving home.

Where every dog is treated with respect and compassion.

Where every dog is free from fear and pain.

This is the world we dream of every moment of every day at The Love Pit, a North Texas rescue organization dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and advocating for bully-breed dogs. We carry these dreams, knowing all too well that these beautiful creatures are among the most misunderstood and mistreated breeds. They face discrimination, abuse, neglect, and abandonment every day in our communities.

Sadly, they are overrepresented in our shelters and underrepresented in our homes.

That is why we founded The Love Pit in 2015: To provide a haven for North Texas bully breeds in need.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to reduce the homeless pit bull population through rescue, rehabilitation, training, and advocacy. We believe that bully breeds are not the problem but the solution. They are ambassadors of hope, healing, and happiness. They are examples of courage, strength, and grace. They are reminders of kindness, generosity, and gratitude.

They are the change we seek.

OUR PROGRAMS

Since our inception, we have rescued over 1,300 dogs from overcrowded shelters, abusive situations, and street life. We have provided medical care, spay/neuter services, behavioral support, and foster homes. And most rewarding, we have shared the joy of matching loving dogs with loving families.

But in the face of the rising homeless animal population in North Texas, we can do more. We must do more. That’s why we’re asking for your help on North Texas Giving Day to raise $85,000 to allow us to broaden our life-saving work.

Your donation will make a massive difference in the communities we serve.

TLP THRIVE

Help us rescue and rehabilitate emergency medical, senior, and disabled dogs. Adopters often overlook these dogs, and shelters may lack the proper resources to provide adequate care. This program allows our team to bring emergency medical dogs from the shelter into our program without first having to raise funds.

A dog should not have to sit at a shelter due to medical issues, and this program allows The Love Pit to step in immediately and provide medical care at any level.

TLP HEADQUARTERS

Support our efforts to continue building a responsible, revolutionary headquarters for our foster dogs, medical and behavioral dogs, and volunteers. This year, we plan to focus on adding new indoor kennels and improving our outdoor facilities, including the play yards, weather protection, and storage shed.

PUBLIC EDUCATION & ADVOCACY

Support our advocacy efforts to end the stigma and discrimination that bully-breed dogs face. We educate the public about the true nature and history of these dogs. We promote responsible ownership and how to proactively implement behavioral solutions. We lobby for fair and humane laws that protect all dogs regardless of breed. We partner with other organizations and businesses that share our vision of a better world for bully breeds.

Mission

The Love Pit is a foster-based rescue dedicated to saving bully breeds through rescue, rehabilitation, training, education and advocacy. Our goal is to revolutionize rescue in Texas and educate the public about a breed that often falls victim to breed specific legislation, discrimination and cruelty.

Equity Statement

"At the core of The Love Pit's mission is the uncompromising belief that every living creature is a treasure, inherently worthy of kindness and care, as well as dignity and respect. Our success hinges on inclusivity, where supporters and volunteers are empowered to reach their full potential as animal advocates. In doing so, we expect all TLP team members-no matter their role or function-to foster an environment where people are excited to bring all of who they are to accomplish great things together. We recognize that differences in age, race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, physical ability, thinking style, and background are the very differences that foster greater creativity and connection to the communities we serve - and, ultimately, to the pit bull breed dogs we strive to promote and protect."
