This North Texas Giving Day, The Love Pit HQ staff are getting competitive by raising money for our assigned HQ dogs. Team Nina & Luther is representing Peggy and Arnold — two HQ favorites who have a very special place in our hearts.
This year’s North Texas Giving Day campaign is all about We Belong, and honestly, that could not fit these two better.
Why Peggy and Arnold?
Because they bring the laughs, the fun, the head tilts, and just the right amount of chaos into almost everything they do.
For Luther, Peggy was an easy choice. He has always had a special affinity for her, and Peggy has a way of making sure the people she loves know they’ve been chosen.
And then there’s Arnold. Arnold has spent a significant amount of time with Nina, working, learning, and becoming the best version of himself. She has gotten to know the goofy, complicated, ridiculously lovable dog behind that very serious face.
So when it came time to pick our team, Peggy and Arnold just made sense.
They belong at HQ with the people who love them while they wait. They belong in all the ridiculous stories and memories they’ve given us.
But most importantly, they belong in homes of their own.
Also, have you seen the head tilts? We were basically emotionally manipulated into choosing them.
Here’s how it works:
There are three teams. As we raise money, we unlock dares and challenges for your entertainment. The team that hits each milestone first gets to call the shots.
So yes, donating to Team Peggy & Arnold could give Nina and Luther the power to decide who dresses as Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, or Dog the Bounty Hunter.

The ultimate dare:
The captain whose team raises the most money gets to go home. The other two sleep overnight in the HQ pods.

$100: Embarrassing Dog Shirt Day
All three captains must wear embarrassing dog shirts to work and take a group photo.
$250: The TLP Adoption Listing
The activating team writes adoption bios for all three captains and directs a group photo recreating an HQ dog picture.
$500: Enrichment Lunch Showdown
All three captains must eat lunch from dog enrichment toys and puzzles while the kennel techs narrate and declare a winner.
$750: Dog Celebrity Takeover
The three captains dress as Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, and Dog the Bounty Hunter. The activating team assigns each character.
$1,000: The Human Dog Show
All three captains compete in a human dog show featuring recall, stay, an obstacle course, best trick, and best dramatic entrance.
$1,500: HQ Music Video
All three captains must perform in a full lip sync or music video. The activating team chooses the song, costumes, roles, and dog cameos.
$2,500: The Human Adoption Event
All three captains become adoptable HQ dogs. Each gets a kennel card, dog name, adoption bio, behavior notes, energy level, adoption photos, enrichment challenge, and mock meet and greet.
Final Dare
The captain whose team raises the most is safe. The other two captains sleep overnight at HQ, one in each pod.
