Book Drive for Kids is a local, grassroots 501(c)3 organization dedicated to getting books into the hearts and homes of needy children. We do this by hosting free book fairs with schools and other organizations that enroll a population that is at least 70% economically disadvantaged. We also work with foster & adoption groups and special education groups.
At these events, children are able to browse over 50 books and select one or more of their own. We demonstrate book ownership by affixing bookplates on the inside cover. Then they write their name on the chosen book(s). These books ignite curiosity as children explore topics that interest them. They build reading and comprehension skills but most of all, our desire is that these books inspire hope and send a message of love.
We are expanding!
NTX Giving Day funds will be used to bring more books to our communities by offering free "shopping" events for teachers and gifting books to local teachers and organizations who wish to host their own book fairs and/or include books as part of an existing children's event.
Our Goal: 20 children's books in every North Texas child's home, regardless of their zipcode.
Why? Data indicates that children with 20 books at home are more likely to graduate from high school and experience the joy of reading.

We believe every child regardless of their race, economic status, gender, or age deserves to have a home full of books because the number of books in the home is a key indicator to academic success. Our mission is to provide books to disadvantaged children so they can achieve and compete with other children who already have the means to have a home filled with books.
