About Hidden Pastures
Hidden Pastures is a nonprofit working farm in Wylie, Texas, where people, animals, and purpose come together.
Through hands-on experiences with animals, agriculture, and real farm life, children, teens, adults, families, veterans, and people with disabilities or support needs have opportunities to learn, contribute, build confidence, and connect in meaningful ways.
Hidden Pastures was founded by veterans Allie and Brian after they experienced firsthand the value of caring for animals, working the land, and having meaningful responsibility during difficult seasons of life. What began as something their own family needed grew into a belief that continues to guide the organization today:
A farm can offer people something valuable simply by giving them a real place within it.
Our animals are not props. They are individuals who deserve excellent care. Working alongside them creates natural opportunities to practice patience, communication, responsibility, trust, problem-solving, and confidence.
There is no single reason someone comes to Hidden Pastures, and there is no single way to belong here.
With community support, we can care well for our animals, keep meaningful experiences accessible, and continue building a farm that has room for more people to find their place.
Hidden Pastures creates meaningful opportunities for people to learn, connect, contribute, and grow through hands-on experiences with animals, agriculture, and life on a working farm.
We are committed to creating an environment where people of different ages, abilities, backgrounds, and life experiences can participate with purpose, while ensuring the animals in our care are treated with respect and provided excellent welfare.
This North Texas Giving Day, Hidden Pastures is focused on three priorities:
Animal Care
Our horses, goats, sheep, and other animals require year-round feed, veterinary care, farrier services, medications, routine supplies, and emergency care. Their wellbeing comes first and makes every Hidden Pastures experience possible.
Access Fund
We believe finances should not automatically prevent someone from participating. The Hidden Pastures Access Fund helps reduce program costs when financial circumstances, disability-related expenses, medical needs, or other life circumstances make participation difficult.
Arena Project
Texas weather can significantly limit when and how we are able to offer programs. Our planned arena will provide a safer, more reliable space for equine programs, learning experiences, community activities, and future growth.
Every gift helps strengthen one of these essential parts of Hidden Pastures: caring for the animals, opening access for people, or building the farm's future.
Hidden Pastures believes meaningful participation should not depend on someone fitting a particular label, learning style, ability level, family structure, or life circumstance.
We welcome children, teens, adults, families, veterans, individuals with disabilities and support needs, and members of the broader community. Our programs are designed to allow for different ways of participating, learning, communicating, and contributing.
We also recognize that financial circumstances can create barriers to participation. Through the Hidden Pastures Access Fund, we consider more than income alone when providing assistance and encourage individuals and families to share only the circumstances they feel are relevant.
Our goal is not to make everyone participate in the same way. It is to create meaningful opportunities for people to take part in the life of the farm with dignity, purpose, and respect.
