Their Care Comes First
The animals of Hidden Pastures are at the heart of our farm — but before they can be part of anyone else's experience, they are individuals entrusted to our care.
Our horses, goats, sheep, and other farm animals depend on us every day for quality feed and hay, clean water, veterinary care, farrier services, medications, safe living spaces, and all of the routine care that comes with giving an animal a good life.
At Hidden Pastures, animal welfare is not secondary to our mission. It is part of it.
We don't view our animals as props or tools. We believe people can learn something meaningful by developing real relationships with animals and taking part in the responsibilities that come with caring for them.
A child may learn patience while grooming a horse. A teenager may discover confidence by learning how to safely lead and communicate with an animal. An adult or veteran may find purpose in completing meaningful work at the farm. A participant with different support needs may discover a way to contribute that works for them.
These experiences are possible because there are real animals on the other side of those relationships — animals whose own needs, personalities, boundaries, and wellbeing matter.
That means the work continues whether or not a program is taking place.
Animals still need breakfast.
Hooves still need trimming.
Hay still has to be purchased.
Vaccinations and routine veterinary care still need to happen.
And sometimes an animal gets sick or injured and needs care we could never have scheduled into a budget.
Your gift to the Hidden Pastures Animal Care Fund helps us meet those everyday and unexpected needs.
By helping provide feed, veterinary care, farrier services, medications, and essential supplies, you are helping ensure that the animals who call Hidden Pastures home receive the care they deserve.
And because they are cared for well, they can continue being part of a farm where people come to learn, connect, contribute, and grow.
Care for the animals, and you help keep the whole pasture going.
