Laughter. Power. Wonder. Hope.

For 53 years, Shakespeare Dallas has turned these big, human themes into unforgettable nights of theatre. As North Texas’ leading professional Shakespeare company, we believe these stories aren’t locked in dusty books — they’re living, breathing, and meant for everyone.

That’s why we bring you theatre under the stars in the summer and fall, bold winter productions in the round, and year-round education programs that light up imaginations from classrooms to community centers. Generations of families have picnicked on the lawn, cheered for the villains, swooned for the lovers, and passed the tradition on.

This isn’t just theatre. This is connection. This is community. This is the people’s theatre.

Mission

Using Shakespeare’s works as a cornerstone, Shakespeare Dallas serves the Southwest region with fun and accessible indoor and outdoor theatre, integrated school programs and cultural enrichment for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Needs

🎉 Power the People's Theatre 🎉

“What is the city but the people?”

- William Shakespeare, Coriolanus, Act III, scene 1

On every North Texas Giving Day we ask our city, our people, to help support Shakespeare Dallas and its mission in North Texas.

The collective impact of our community's gifts on North Texas Giving Day is the engine that keeps Shakespeare Dallas thriving all year long.

Your gift powers Shakespeare in the Park under the summer stars and its fall return to the Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre, the bold intimacy of Shakespeare in the Round at Theatre Three’s Norma Young Arena Stage, and the education programs that serve more than 12,000 students each year.

Because of the generosity of each of you, we can:

🎟 Keep theatre accessible for all.

“All the world’s a stage” — and everyone deserves a seat. More than 50% of our tickets are free, ensuring access for schools, park & rec centers, and community groups for 30,000 attendees across North Texas.

📚 Expand student matinees.

“The play’s the thing” — especially for young audiences experiencing Shakespeare live for the first time. With your help, we’ll add two brand-new matinee performances, free or deeply subsidized for underserved schools. Already, 90% of our students come from low- to moderate-income households.

🎭 Support artists & fuel recovery.

“Our revels now are ended”… unless we keep them going! Your gift provides steady work for local actors, designers, and technicians, sustaining the creative economy and keeping the arts vibrant in Dallas.

🍎 Grow education programs year-round.

“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” From school tours, summer camps and after-school classes to residencies and digital programs, your donation creates transformative learning experiences that have already reached over 600,000 students since 1984.

🎟 Bring Shakespeare in the Round to life.

“O, wonder! How many goodly creatures are there here!” With your support, we can continue presenting this intimate winter season at Theatre Three’s Norma Young Arena Stage, where audiences sit just feet away from the action in bold, reimagined productions.

🤓 Inspire lifelong learners.

“We are such stuff as dreams are made on.” Through hands-on workshops, student talkbacks, and immersive residencies, your gift ensures students and audiences of all ages keep discovering, questioning, and imagining with Shakespeare.

Equity Statement

At Shakespeare Dallas, we believe the arts are a birthright, not a privilege. Shakespeare belongs to everyone, and our stages are for every voice. As the Bard reminds us, “One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.”

We celebrate the richness of our community and value every employee, contractor, volunteer, and audience member, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or identity, age, ability, education, or background. We stand firmly against discrimination, racism, harassment, violence, and hate in all forms.

Our promise is more than words:

We provide equal employment and advancement opportunities at every level.

We work to ensure our staff, board, and artists reflect Dallas.

We regularly examine and update our policies, practices, and training to dismantle inequities.

We invest in ongoing learning, drawing on community wisdom and industry best practices to keep us accountable.

Our mission is simple: to make theatre accessible, inclusive, and joyful — because “the web of our life is of a mingled yarn.” Together, we can weave a more just and welcoming future.
