The programs provided by Create + Collaborate directly address the achievement gap students from under-resourced communities face in order to continue their education but do not have the support or resources. Create + Collaborate is addressing these inequities by providing students with leadership skills, mentors, basic needs, and dorm essentials to transition into college. Many students from underserved backgrounds leave home to start their college journey with little to no basic essentials. Create + Collaborate addresses the financial need of fully furnishing their dorms. This eliminates stress and breaks down a barrier for students who worry about leaving home and how they will afford the essentials for living independently in college. Create + Collaborate not only furnishes dorms but also pairs students with mentors that guide them through the Fit For The Future leadership program. Students are intentionally paired with mentors from similar fields of work or degrees that will generate opportunities and connections in the workforce after completing their degrees.

Create + Collaborates’ innovative approach to helping young adults successfully transition from high school to college or career is a combination of (3) targeted priorities:

  1. Mentorship - adult connections that offer one to one and small group mentorship to help participants navigate the college entrance process, overcome obstacles, and become self reliant.

  2. Life Skills - Targeted programs that focus on workforce skills, leadership development, and academic success. Our targeted programs include:

  • Fit for the Future - designed to take participants through a 12 week leadership skills training to help build brand, identity, self efficacy, community engagement, and confidence.

  • Create Athletics - gives participants access to elite sports camps and tryouts, opening the door of college recruitment and professional coaching.

  1. Wrap-around Support Services - Create College supplies participants with the essentials needed to create a comfortable, positive living space conducive to learning.
