There are some causes we support because we believe they are important. And then there are causes that connect so deeply to who we are, what we value, and the work we have committed our lives to doing that supporting them feels personal.

For me, Create + Collaborate is personal.

I am proud to serve as a Board Member of Create + Collaborate, an organization committed to creating opportunities for young people as they transition into adulthood through mentoring, leadership development, life skills, and the resources necessary to achieve academic, personal, and career success.

For nearly two decades, my own life's work in higher education has centered on students. I have witnessed firsthand what can happen when a young person has someone who believes in them, advocates for them, exposes them to new possibilities, and reminds them that where they begin does not determine where they can go.

But I also know that access alone is not enough.

Getting admitted to college is not enough if a student arrives without the basic necessities to live and learn.

Potential is not enough if a student has never had access to mentors or professional networks.

Talent is not enough when systemic barriers continue to determine who receives opportunities, resources, guidance, and support.

That is why the work of Create + Collaborate matters.

Through mentorship, leadership development, college transition support, life skills, and programs designed to prepare young people for their futures, Create + Collaborate is helping students move from simply having potential to having the resources, relationships, confidence, and opportunities to realize it.

And that is work I believe in.

As a Board Member, I am asking my family, friends, colleagues, former students, community partners, and everyone who believes in the power of education and opportunity to join me in investing in these young people.

I serve on the Board of Create + Collaborate because I believe deeply that when we invest in young people, we are investing in families, communities, and generations we may never personally meet.

Every student deserves someone in their corner. Every student deserves access to opportunity. Every student deserves the chance to thrive.
