At Solar Prep for Girls and Solar Prep for Boys, those opportunities come to life every day through hands-on STEAM learning, inspiring educators, enriching student experiences and a school community that believes every child can thrive.
Friends of Solar Prep exists to fuel those opportunities.
As an independent nonprofit supporting both campuses, we invest in experiences and resources that go beyond what traditional public education funding can provide. From the supplies students use in a classroom today to the national competitions, innovative programs and exceptional teachers that distinguish the Solar experience, private support makes these opportunities possible.
This North Texas Giving Day, our goal is to raise $150,000 to directly support more than 1,175 students and 80 educators across both Solar Prep campuses.

$22.50 can put STEAM supplies in a classroom for an upcoming student project.
$42.99 can keep the Robotics Lab running with batteries for hands-on learning.
$99 can provide a year of laser-cutting software for our Makerspace.
$234 can send a group of 8th graders by bus to visit a local high school as they explore what's next in their educational journey.
$300 can send a Solar educator to the three-day Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching, bringing new ideas and approaches directly back to our classrooms.
$499 can put 10 3D pens in the Makerspace, allowing students to transform their designs into physical creations.
$545.50 can provide bus transportation for an entire grade to experience learning beyond the classroom on a field trip.
$1,047 can provide the additional equipment our growing orchestra and modern band program needs to welcome more student musicians.
$3,638 can fulfill a month of teacher-requested classroom STEAM supplies at one Solar campus.
$7,500 can sponsor the Solar Debate Invitational, bringing students from across Dallas together to compete and receive feedback from local lawyers, professors and communications professionals.
$10,858 can complete the current $15,000 library project at one of our campuses (we are doing this for both campuses this year!), filling shelves with relevant, age-appropriate books for students to discover.
$50,000 can send our debate teams to Nationals, with the opportunity to defend their national title.

Friends of Solar Prep is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization led by an Executive Director and a Board of Directors who work to ensure every Solar Prep student has equal access to educational opportunities to realize their full potential. We support the Solar Preparatory Schools, two challenging and innovative STEAM-focused single-gender preK-8 public schools in Dallas, TX.
The main charge of Friends of Solar Prep is to help bridge funding gaps between what the school district's funding provides and what is needed on the Solar campuses for higher academic achievement. Since 2016, we've raised more than $3,000,000 from grants, corporations and generous individuals. We're proud to support a transformative approach to public education that brings together Dallas scholars from all parts of the community and across socio-economic backgrounds.
