$100,000 Goal

One of the differentiating factors about Solar Prep Schools is that our founders knew that higher academic achievement at STEM and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) choice schools costs more than neighborhood schools. Friends of Solar Prep raises funds that support our teachers in the classroom, ensuring our scholars have the resources needed to achieve their full potential. Campus principals determine campus needs and how dollars are allocated each year.

Our Needs

To continue our trailblazing record of high-performance since 2016, we are raising:

  1. $100,000: Train and develop our talented teachers in best practices for leading our scholars through our formative SEL & STEM curriculum. Supporting our teachers translates directly to retention, culture and success in the classroom for our diverse body.
  2. $50,000: Library books! Curiosity is one of Solar Prep's six core tenets, and our libraries are critical resources for developing that love of learning. For many of our students, the library is their ONLY resource for books. Thank you for helping us fill the shelves.

If you prefer, you can make your gift to either campus (Girls or Boys), the Solar Peace Pantry or the Jennifer Turner Scholarship Fund, by noting it in the comments section.

Mission

Friends of Solar Prep is a volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit organization led by a board of parents and community leaders who work to ensure every Solar Prep student has equal access to educational opportunities to realize their full potential. We support the Solar Preparatory Schools, two challenging and inclusive schools, through fundraising for student and educator enrichment.

The main charge of Friends of Solar Prep is to help bridge funding gaps between what the school district's funding provides and what is needed on our Solar campuses for higher academic achievement. Since 2016, we've raised more than $1,000,000 from grants, corporations and generous individuals. We're proud to build and support two campuses in an innovative model that brings together Dallas scholars from all parts of the community and across socio-economic backgrounds.
