Taty vs. The Acorn: A Tiny Object, a $5,000 Crisis

The Moment Everything Changed

It only took a second. One curious sniff, one quick gulp, and sweet Taty went from a happy-go-lucky dog to a life-or-death medical emergency. We often think of the big dangersβ€”cars, predators, or illnessβ€”but for Taty, the enemy was a simple acorn. What seemed like a minor stomach upset rapidly spiraled into a total intestinal blockage. Within hours, Taty was no longer herself. She was lethargic, in pain, and fading fast.  Her owners took her to a vet and because they could not afford the care she needed, they surrendered her to us.

The Emergency Surgery

We rushed her to the emergency vet, where the X-rays confirmed our worst fears. The acorn was lodged firmly, and Taty’s body was shutting down. She needed immediate, life-saving surgery. There was no time to wait, no time to fundraise, and no time to hesitate. We gave the doctors the green light, and Taty went into the operating room.

The surgery was a success, but the recovery journey was just beginning. The bill for her emergency care, surgery, and post-operative monitoring totaled $5,248.

A Rescue Pushed to the Limit

As many of you know, our rescue is already navigating a mountain of medical needs. We never want to say "no" to a dog in a crisis, but Taty’s emergency has hit us at a moment when our resources are stretched thinner than ever before.

In rescue, we often operate on faithβ€”faith that when a dog's life is on the line, the community will stand behind us. Taty is a fighter. She survived the surgery, and she is now resting, recovering, and learning that she is safe. But now, we have to face the financial reality of that survival.

How You Can Be Taty’s Hero

This isn't just about a vet bill; it's about making sure our doors stay open for the next "Taty" who has a freak accident.

  • $25 helps cover Taty’s post-op pain medication.

  • $100 helps cover a follow-up veterinary exam.

  • $500 goes directly toward the surgical debt that saved her life.

Every dollar counts. Whether you can give the cost of a cup of coffee or a larger gift to honor a pet of your own, you are providing the "safety net" that allows us to save these precious lives.

Our Promise to You

Taty is getting her soft meals, her belly rubs, and all the love she deserves.

Thank you, we couldn’t do this without you. Please donate today and share Taty’s story to help us reach our goal!
