Support the Woodrow Wilson Wildcat Band

The Woodrow Wilson Wildcat Band is the largest co-ed extracurricular program at Woodrow Wilson High School, a Title I school in the heart of East Dallas. Through participation in band, students develop musicianship, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and performance skills while bringing the biggest Wildcat spirit to Woodrow athletic events, pep rallies, feeder-pattern schools, and events throughout the greater Dallas community.

For many students, band is much more than an extracurricular activity. It is a place to belong, an opportunity to develop confidence and leadership, and a pathway to experiences that can shape their futures.

Your Support Makes These Opportunities Possible

As a donor, your support directly benefits Woodrow student musicians by helping provide opportunities and resources that cannot be fully accommodated within Dallas ISD budget constraints. Donations help us:

  • Provide meals for students before every home and away football game, ensuring they are fueled, focused, and prepared for long performance days and late-night travel.
  • Sustain the return and continued growth of the Woodrow Color Guard, now entering its third season since its reintroduction.
  • Elevate our UIL and football-season marching productions through props, visual effects, uniforms, and other enhancements that give students a more complete and competitive performance experience.
  • Expand transportation capacity for our growing program, including doubling our box-truck rental needs so instruments, equipment, uniforms, and props can travel safely with the band and students can participate in more performance opportunities.
  • Provide financial assistance for students who otherwise could not afford band dues or private lessons, helping ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent a student from fully participating.
  • Award scholarships to graduating seniors as they continue their education beyond Woodrow.
  • Provide scholarships for student leadership camps, where young musicians develop skills they bring back to strengthen the entire program.
  • Offset band trip, festival, and competition fees, expanding access to meaningful educational and performance experiences.
  • Repair and replace aging instruments and equipment, giving students the reliable tools they need to learn, rehearse, and perform at their best.

A Band That Shows Up for East Dallas

Throughout the year, Woodrow Band students dedicate countless hours not only to rehearsals and performances, but also to service projects, school celebrations, and community events that strengthen their connection to East Dallas.

You will find the Wildcat Band welcoming students back to school, introducing incoming freshmen to Woodrow at Cub Camp, encouraging classmates at STAAR Success Pep Rallies, connecting with neighbors at National Night Out, celebrating the season at Light Up Lakewood and the Dallas Holiday Parade, supporting local home-tour fundraisers, and marching through the neighborhood to encourage the community to get our and vote!

When East Dallas gathers, the Woodrow Band is often there.

These performances give students something equally valuable in return: the opportunity to see themselves as contributors to their community. They learn that their talents can create joy, build traditions, represent their school, and bring people together.

Experiences That Extend Beyond the Classroom

In addition to these community traditions, Woodrow Band students participate in major artistic and educational experiences throughout the year, including joint Band and Choir concerts, All-State Region and Jazz competitions, music festivals and competitions, the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest in Austin, Dallas Winds Summer Band Camp, Revive the Culture HBCU Summer Marching Band Camp, and leadership training at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

The program also hosts New Member Marching Camp, Summer Band Camp, Band 101 outreach events, leadership activities, and student socials designed to welcome new members and build the supportive community affectionately known as the “Woodrow Band Family.”

Together, these experiences provide an education that extends far beyond notes and rhythms. Students learn how to lead and follow, work toward long-term goals, respond to challenges, support their peers, represent their community, and take pride in accomplishing something larger than themselves.

Help Us Keep the Music Moving

As the Woodrow Band grows, so do the opportunities we can provide our students—and the resources required to make those opportunities possible.
