We're raising $20,000 to support various academic activities, including Model United Nations and Debate Club - and we need your help to make it happen!

Model United Nations (Model UN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model United Nations, students take on roles as foreign diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization (IGO). Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems. 

The Debate Club is an organized academic activity where students meet to learn how to research, speak publicly, and argue both sides of a topic in a formal, structured way. Members of the club practice teamwork, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to compete against other schools. Key activities within the club include researching topics, building arguments, speaking in front of their peers, and rebuttal practice.  

This campaign will fund:

• Hosting a Model UN conference in the 2026/2027 school year, with delegates attending from various high schools in the North Texas region. This will be the first time that Woodrow has had the opportunity to host a conference.

• Attendance at other Model UN conferences throughout the region, hosted by other high schools, and potentially attending conferences at the State and National level.

• Developing the skills of the members of the Debate Club, including specific training materials and coaching. Also the costs of attending Debate events in the region.

• Sending Woodrow debaters to the prestigious Harvard Debate Council Summer Workshops where they can receive rigorous coaching and development, as well as opportunities to train alongside Team USA.
