Amateur Radio has something for everyone. Some people are interested in local and worldwide communications and others in emergency communications or the technical aspects of electronics or antennas.
In May of 2022, The American Legion 315 Amateur Radio Club was unanimously voted in by the post membership. With 15 original members, mostly licensed amateur radio operators, with a wide range of radio and technology interest and skills, we determined to define our GOALS as follows:
- Promote interest in and the advancement of Amateur Radio, and electronics in general
- To promote a good relationship between the American Legion 315 Amateur Radio Club who are licensed radio amateurs and the public through public service activities
- To participate in activities involving or
- for Amateur Radio
- To be prepared to respond in case of declared emergencies or disasters, to offer Amateur Radio Communications where necessary
Our club offers something for everyone and we learn from each other as well as from the club programs. We provide our members with many opportunities to maximize knowledge and enjoyment of amateur radio through fun, fellowship and unique learning experiences.
The American Legion Post 315 Amateur Radio Club is open to all interested members of the public, who either have an FCC license, or are interested in obtaining an FCC license are welcome. You do not need to be a member of the American Legion or Post 315. We encourage youth to become members of the club. It’s easy, fun, educational, and provides a vital service to the community. If you are a Veteran of the Armed Forces, Active-Duty, or Military Reserve, we offer an annual club dues at a discount rate.
The American Legion 315 Amateur Radio Club is a Non-Profit 501(c)19 corporation, and part of The American Legion Amateur Radio Club (TALARC). We are 1 of 59 American Legion Amateur Radio Clubs throughout the United States and 1 of 3 American Legion Amateur Radio Clubs within the state of Texas.
American Legion Post 315 Amateur Radio Club: Is part of the American Radio Relay League North Texas Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARRL NTX ARES). The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes. Other community programs include amateur radio demonstrations to veterans in retirement/ assisted living centers, support local first responders during civic events, adding an additional layer of observations and communications. Our amateur radio repeater network supports general amateur use, public service events, and emergency communications.
