Doodle Rock Rescue is more than an organization I support. It’s deeply personal to me.

I fell in love with doodles when I got my first Goldendoodle, Brooks, at 23. He became my best friend and confidant and was by my side through some of the biggest moments of my life. He was there for my first promotion, when I met my husband, and even stood beside us at our wedding. He lived with us in four different states and made every house we lived in feel like home. Through every move, every new chapter, the best days, and the hardest ones, Brooks was there. There’s something incredibly special about the unconditional love of a dog, and Brooks gave me that every single day.

We lost Brooks in 2024, and I still miss his presence and unconditional love every day. He left a hole in my heart that will always be there, but he also gave me a lifelong love for these dogs and a desire to help others experience the kind of bond I was so lucky to have with him.

After losing Brooks, we adopted Buffalo, formerly known as Cheetos, from Doodle Rock Rescue. Today, Buffalo and our 8-year-old Sheepadoodle, Barley, fill our home with love, personality, laughter, and, of course, plenty of doodle chaos. We truly can’t imagine our home without them. They make our house a home.

That’s a huge part of why I dedicate so much of my time to Doodle Rock Rescue. I personally volunteer with intake, marketing, and fundraising, and I get to see firsthand both the heartbreaking situations these dogs come from and the incredible transformations that happen when someone is willing to give them a chance.

Doodles became incredibly popular, incredibly quickly. Unfortunately, that popularity has come with consequences. Like every breed, they need advocates, responsible owners, fosters, adopters, and rescues willing to step in when things go wrong. Today, we’re seeing more and more doodles and poodle mixes on the streets and in shelters across DFW. Many are abandoned, neglected, sick, injured, or simply unwanted.

Since 2017, Doodle Rock Rescue has rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed more than 2,300 poodle mixes. Many arrive needing far more than a safe place to sleep. We see dogs with broken bones, heart conditions, severe neglect, behavioral trauma, and life-threatening illnesses.

DRR is 100% volunteer-run and foster-based, which means donations go directly toward caring for these dogs, including emergency surgeries, medical treatment, food, medication, supplies, and behavioral training.

This North Texas Giving Day, Doodle Rock Rescue is facing a $55,000 funding gap needed to meet our annual operating costs. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us say “yes” to the next dog who desperately needs someone in their corner.

A $100 donation can help fund life-saving surgery. $500 can help cover critical medical treatment for a dog who may have nowhere else to turn. Every gift helps give another dog the opportunity to heal, find a family, and become someone’s Brooks, Buffalo, or beloved best friend.

I know firsthand how much these dogs can change our lives. Now they need us to change theirs.

If you’re able to donate (any amount would help) I would be incredibly grateful. Your support means more dogs get the second chance and the home they deserve. ❤️🐾
