Reina was Owner Surrendered to Marleigh's Friends Rescue this August.
She spent the first four days with her rescue, at the Vet.
After blood work and multiple tests, the Vet found no medical reason for her condition - it was NEGLECT that caused her condition.
Her nails were extremely over grown, her hair mostly gone - skin dry, cracked and flaking, eyes goopy, ears filthy and painful - to top that off, Reina was only 35lbs. (about 20+ pounds underweight)
Her bones protruded from her frail little body and her skin would rip open every time she scratched an itch - but man this girl is HAPPY to make new friends and get attention - all the pain and neglect still couldn't dull her shine!
Reina is on the right path to recovery - she gained 2lbs the first week in rescue.
She is tolerating her (every other day) baths, which have given her quite a bit of relief - but her ears were so painful she would not allow us to flush and medicate them daily, so she was taken back to the vet to have her ears packed. She also received a steroid injection to help her with her itching.
We are nearly $1200 in and she still has a ways to go.
Priority now is to get weight on her and get her skin and ears well - then we can proceed with the next steps. (Follow up bloodwork, boosters, spay etc)
