North Texas Giving Day is here—and I’m raising $500 to support American Boston Terrier Rescue & Rehabilitation (ABTRR), a rescue that goes above and beyond for the dogs most often overlooked: seniors, hospice cases, and pups with special needs.
ABTRR gives these dogs the time, care, and love they need to heal and find their forever homes—even when that journey takes months or years. Because most adopters seek young, healthy dogs, these resilient souls often remain in foster care longer, and the costs of their care far exceed adoption fees. That’s why fundraisers like this one are so critical.
💖 Every donation is tax-deductible
💖 100% goes directly to the dogs in ABTRR’s foster program
💖 ABTRR serves TX, OK, AR, LA—and adopts nationally!
This fundraiser is in loving memory of Charlie.
At just 18 months old, Charlie, was struck by a car and left on the side of the road to die. When Dallas Police found him and released him into our care, his injuries were devastating. Charlie was quadriplegic, covered head to tail in painful road rash, and even his eyes had suffered severe abrasions, leaving him mostly blind.
But Charlie was a fighter.
After a lengthy inpatient rehabilitation stay that included intensive chiropractic care and physical therapy, Charlie slowly began to heal. Despite multiple spinal fractures and a prognosis that offered little hope, he regained the use of his front legs and learned to navigate life with the help of a doggie wheelchair.
For many years, Charlie waited for a family of his own. Although he never found an adoptive home, he never lacked love. His devoted foster family cherished him, and Charlie spent his life helping countless animals by serving as a teaching model for our veterinary chiropractic students. Through his resilience, patience, and gentle spirit, he educated and inspired everyone he met.
Charlie knew he was safe. Charlie knew he was loved.
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Charlie passed away after a brief illness. While his journey has ended, his legacy lives on in every animal given a second chance because someone chose to care.
Today, we honor Charlie's remarkable life by continuing our mission to help the most critically injured and vulnerable animals. Your donation ensures that the next Charlie receives the lifesaving care, rehabilitation, and love they deserve.
Please give today in memory of Charlie, a dog who proved that even the most broken bodies can be healed by compassion. ❤️
