FAC Facility

The Forney Arts Council (FAC) has been in the community for about 15 years, and has offered programming in lots of venues - houses, parks, The Cotton Gin, The Spellman Museum, local businesses, schools, etc. Our offerings have provided opportunities to both established and emerging artists and artisans. 

We LOVE our partners who let us borrow their spaces, but know we could offer so much more with a place of our own! We could sponsor more consistent programming, hold year-round events (avoid summer heat), offer summer children’s classes and provide more artists opportunities with semi-permanent installations/shows, etc.   

Studies show that having an active art scene increases a sense of community, as well as generates revenue. Our surveys of the public show that area residents want local access to the arts. They want opportunities to view the arts, as well as participate in creating art and learning new crafts and skills.

 While we have partnered with the City of Forney to provide vendors for city events, we are not supported by the city, unlike many local arts councils. Having a physical address will allow us to apply for regional grants.

As there are no community buildings in the Forney area, in addition to using the facility for the FAC, we would like to make it available to the community, including other non-profits. We know we are not the only non-profit in Forney that struggles with finding a facility and getting funding. We want to help eliminate obstacles for them by letting them also use the space. A facility is a place that WE need but also that FORNEY needs.
