This year, we're committed to empowering our Latino nursing students by raising funds during our NT Giving Day campaign to provide them with quality stethoscopes. Many Latino nursing students come from financially challenged families, and the cost of essential tools can be a burden.
Nursing school is one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences, but it often leaves students with significant debt. "Nurses need the right tools and resources to do their jobs effectively. A quality stethoscope is crucial, not only for their education but also to minimize the burden of purchasing a new one after graduation," says Dr. Umebayashi, Vice Provost of the School of Health Sciences. He understands the importance of a good stethoscope, which allows nurses to hear the quiet, low-frequency sounds essential for identifying abnormal conditions.
Given the financial challenges many Latino nursing students face, we're dedicating our NT Giving Day campaign to raising funds for these vital tools. As Dr. Carmen Santiago, a nursing educator, says, "A stethoscope is the first signature symbol of becoming a nurse and a key tool for comprehensive patient assessments. It's used throughout every shift, from start to finish."
A quality stethoscope is the first step in preparing nursing students for the clinical challenges they will encounter. It also symbolizes their commitment to patient care, listening not just with their ears but with their hearts. Please help us equip these students with the tools they need to succeed and make a difference in our communities.
Students are at the heart of everything we do. Scholarships help first-generation students attend college and assist professionals in advancing their education and careers. Higher education opens new doors, and your support of scholarships today enables our students to achieve their goals and positively impact our communities tomorrow.
