Update #2
Just yesterday, I visited with a woman that I had never met. I didn't know what to say, but I trusted God would provide those words, and He did. She was an elderly woman, injured and in the hospital. As I sat and listened to what she had to say about how thankful she was to not be in pain with her broken bone, she was adamant that God would use it for His purpose.
I was able to share with her a little about our family and how God has used our refining fires to serve a greater purpose. Being in the hospital with our daughter so much has helped me to understand that there is room for joy in the suffering. Much like this woman's broken hip was used to encourage me, our child's suffering has impacted the faith of so many.
Leaving, I wondered if that visit hadn't been destined more for my benefit than hers. It was a beautiful reminder of just how faithful He is, and just how very present He is. I don't know that I would perceive things the way I do now if it were not for our time spent with Community Seeds.
We were facing homelessness when we found Community Seeds. We were scared and didn't know what to do. But Community Seeds welcomed us with open arms and gave us the support we needed to get back on our feet.
In their Transitional Housing Program, we participated in life skills classes, such as The Art of Marriage, Financial Stability, Resume Writing, Experiencing God, and more. We also volunteered in the office, which cultivated a servant's heart for the community. My husband was introduced to a local cabinet builder who hired him for full-time employment. We also got involved in Bible Study and church.
Through Community Seeds, we were able to build a new foundation for our lives. We learned how to manage our finances, how to communicate effectively, and how to build effective relationships. We also found hope and healing through faith. We graduated from the Transitional Housing Program in 2016 and are forever grateful for the support of Community Seeds.
I continue to volunteer with Community Seeds because I want to help others who are facing the same challenges that we did. I know that with the right support, anyone can overcome life's obstacles and build a better life.
