End Teen Homelessness

Dallas Independent School District reports 3,700 enrolled homeless students in 2023.  There are not enough beds for homeless teens in Dallas.  

Sharon is a 15-year-old student in East Dallas. She was homeless at the age of 12.  Sharon has been the victim of sexual assault, violence, and hunger.  First Choice Social Services Outreach encountered Sharon during one of our homeless outreach efforts.  She was given a hygiene pack, a hot meal, and resources for shelter.   We encouraged Sharon to remain in contact with our organization as she felt comfortable.  From that encounter, we have engaged with Sharon five times this year.  She engages with us a little longer each time.  We hope to move Sharon to permanent housing someday.
