My mother, Cindy Reis, spent a large portion of her career as a special education teacher, and she believed every one deserved a place where they were seen for their abilities, not their limitations. In her memory, I'm raising $2,300 to fully sponsor a week of camp for someone at Camp Summit, a residential camp in Paradise, Texas that provides barrier-free outdoor experiences for individuals with disabilities. My mom spent her days making classrooms feel like that kind of place, and I can't think of a better way to carry her legacy forward than giving a camper the chance to spend a week outside, building confidence and independence, the way she worked so hard to help her own students do. Camp Summit never turns a camper away for inability to pay, which means gifts like this can go straight to covering the true cost of a week that changes a family's year. If you knew my mom, you knew she'd have loved this place — the s'mores, the talent show, the counselors who show up with their whole hearts. Any amount helps get us to $2,300 and one more individual to camp. Thank you for remembering her with me.
