- It takes a lot of "stuff" to keep us running and ensure we're providing the best care possible for all of our equines - it's not just the machines, but the special needs of some of our horses. Here are some examples of where we need help today:
- Machine repair: we’ve been operating for 6 years saving horses! Which means all the equipment we bought when we started is now 6 years old --- 6 hard years of tough work. So we have a number of machines that need repair or maintenance: the manure spreader, the jeep, the horse trailer. (~$1850)
- New/Used 4 Wheeler: we clean all the front pastures twice a day to reduce flies and parasites and ensure our equines have clean pastures. For the big back pastures that are 10+ acres, we use a 4 wheeler and a metal drag to break up and spread the manure. Our 4 Wheeler is on its last legs after a number of repairs. We need a newer used one that’s in better shape. (~$3500)
- SoftRide boots: a number of our older horses and donkeys have hoof issues. It’s not uncommon. SoftRide makes gel boots they can wear to make them more comfortable – just like human shoes with gel inserts! The boots come in different sizes and we need 3 new pairs at $170/pair. ($510)
- Fences: you've heard the saying "the grass is always greener..." A horse person wrote it. Guaranteed. While we have pipe fence in a lot of places, our bigger back pastures have no-climb and t-post fences. (We have absolutely no barbed wire.) The horses are constantly leaning over the no-climb fences, bending down the top wires, to try to get "someone else's" grass. We need to do some repairs and replace some wire, and add pipe in some places. ($3500 will get us started)
