This is my little pack of rescued dogs, and I know firsthand just how much love, joy, and personality is waiting on the other side of a second chance.
This North Texas Giving Day, I’m so proud to support Cody’s Friends Rescue, an all-breed rescue serving dogs across North Texas with a simple but powerful mission: saving dogs, one life at a time.
These are dogs pulled from overcrowded shelters. Dogs found abandoned, injured, or in need of expensive medical care. Dogs who simply needed someone to say, “We’re not giving up on you.”
Cody’s Friends Rescue was inspired by one very special little dog. Founder Tina Austin brought home Cody, a five-week-old Shih Tzu, and later learned he had come from circumstances that left his tiny body fighting for his life. Cody survived, and Tina had eight wonderful years with him. His life ultimately inspired her to create Cody’s Friends Rescue in his honor.
Today, Cody’s legacy has grown to more than 11,000 lives saved.
I’ve seen the impact of this rescue firsthand. If you follow the rescue community in DFW, you will see the Cody’s Friends name again and again when a dog desperately needs someone to step up. They truly care, and they have become an incredible resource for dogs and the people working to save them throughout North Texas.
This year, Cody’s Friends has set its biggest North Texas Giving Day goal yet: $100,000 for second chances.
And every donation can make a very real difference:
🐾 $10 can cover a microchip
🐾 $50 can provide puppy vaccinations
🐾 $100 can provide basic wellness care for a dog
🐾 $300 can cover heartworm treatment
Larger gifts can help provide behavioral training, emergency medical care, and even lifesaving surgery for critically injured dogs. Cody’s Friends is also working toward a new transport vehicle to safely get dogs to foster homes, veterinary appointments, adoption events, and ultimately, their forever homes.
If you’ve watched my animal welfare segments on my show, Be Zen With Brit on WFAA, and wondered how you can help animals right here in North Texas, this is a beautiful way to make a tangible impact. Giving is open through September 17th.
Whether you can give $10, $25, $100, or simply share this fundraiser with your friends and family, it all matters. Because somewhere in North Texas, there is another dog waiting for a second chance.
Together, we can help make sure they get it. 🐶💗
