HELP US RECOVER FROM THE COSTS OF RESCUING 6 PARVO PUPPIES

In recent weeks,  our rescue has been called upon to help some of the most vulnerable puppies facing euthanasia in overcrowded rural shelters. These cases tested our resources, our resolve, and our hearts — but they also reminded us why our mission matters so deeply.

Tootsie Roll and Cannoli

Tootsie Roll and Cannoli, two young Lab/Pointer mix puppies, were scheduled for euthanasia simply because they had been at the shelter too long. We stepped in just in time to save them — but two days after rescue, both puppies broke with the deadly parvovirus. They were hospitalized for three days in an animal emergency veterinary hospital, requiring intensive care and isolation. Thanks to quick intervention, expert 24/7 veterinary care, and the generosity of a loving foster home, both made a full recovery and are now thriving.

The “Cereal Pups” – Wheaties, Cheerios, Chex, and Cap’n Crunch

Less than two weeks later, we were asked to help four Golden Retriever puppies that were found dumped and sick  — later lovingly named the “Cereal Pups”: Wheaties, Cheerios, Chex, and Cap’n Crunch. They arrived at the shelter severely underweight, lethargic, and battling intestinal parasites, coccidia, and parvovirus. The shelter reached out to multiple rescues, but we were the only organization ready to step up to give them a fighting chance..

All four puppies required plasma transfusions and received the newest monoclonal antibody parvo treatment, giving them a fighting chance. They spent seven days in animal emergency hospital  isolation, battling for their lives with round-the-clock care. Miraculously, every one of them survived.

The Cost of Compassion

While these recoveries are nothing short of extraordinary, the medical costs have been overwhelming. Between emergency hospitalization, advanced parvo treatments, and supportive care, our rescue incurred $20,000 dollars in veterinary expenses in just a few short weeks. We still have to complete their regular vetting including follow up exams, vaccines, fecal tests, microchips and spay/neuters.

Unfortunately, donations have been few and far between. As a small, volunteer-run rescue, we are feeling the strain — and we urgently need our community’s help to continue our mission. Without additional funding, we will be forced to turn away animals who desperately need lifesaving care.

How Your Support Helps

With our community support, , we can continue saying “yes” when other rescues cannot. Your support directly saves lives — providing emergency medical care, vaccinations, and recovery for abandoned and at-risk animals who have no one else to help them.

Together, we can ensure that every puppy — no matter how sick or how scared — has a chance at a healthy, happy life.  Please consider supporting our very ethical and compassionate small animal welfare organization.
