Who we are
Sharing Life started as a food pantry in 1999 and has turned into a multi-service nonprofit that targets both the immediate and long-term needs of our clients. Our mission, the core of who we are, is to end both hunger and poverty. To do both, we know that we must not only provide food for our families, but it is important that we also set our clients up with programs and resources to create a better future for themselves and their families. Having nutritious foods is only the start of a better future. In addition to food, we currently offer emergency financial assistance, clothing, educational programs, GED Testing, job placements, financial coaching, medical equipment, and other non-food essentials. Your continued support over the last few years has allowed us to create two additional programs for the clients we serve:
ePantry: This method of receiving food allows our clients to go online and shop for the groceries that work best for their households, without even needing to get out of their cars. With our ePantry, clients select a date and time that work best for them and once they arrive, a staff member takes their groceries to their car and loads them in their vehicles. Through a partnership with DoorDash, this method also allows delivery to our clients, within a 10-mile radius.
W.A.R.M: Our Weather Activated Relief for Mesquite program is a temporary shelter for individuals who are unsheltered during times of extreme weather conditions. Through an amazing partnership, we are able to provide shelter for our guests in a hotel nearby until the weather is no longer at dangerous temperatures. During their stay, we will also provide clothing, blankets, socks, toiletry kits, hoodies, shelf-stable food, and WARM meals.Â
What makes us different
Along with providing the services our clients need, the most important way we serve our clients is by demonstrating compassion. Providing assistance without compassion places a client who is already in a vulnerable situation, who may feel guilt or shame, in an even lower place. Compassion gives us the ability to understand someoneâs situation, put ourselves in their shoes, and work with them to find a solution. When clients walk into Sharing Life, they are greeted with dignity, respect, and most of all, compassion.Â
Our Needs
After the donations needed to fund these services and programs, the greatest need we have are volunteers. Volunteers are the backbone of Sharing Life and without them, we are not able to get all of the resources we have available out into the community. Â We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers who are the lifeblood of Sharing Life, driving our vital services and programs. These invaluable individuals ensure that our extensive range of resources effectively reach the community. While the scope of our offerings is substantial, the support of volunteers remains essential to bridge the gap and make a tangible impact.
