Who we are

Since 1999, Sharing Life has been a steady hand for families in crisis. What began as a small food pantry has grown into a comprehensive nonprofit that walks alongside families during their most difficult seasons.

Recent cuts to federal programs like SNAP and Medicaid mean that thousands of already fragile households across Texas are left without the safety nets they once relied on. In our own community, this translates to more families struggling to put food on the table, keep the lights on, or afford medical care. Sharing Life is often the last line of defense to keep families fed, housed, and hopeful.

But food is just the beginning. We know that hunger and poverty do not exist in isolation. That’s why Sharing Life provides wraparound supports including rent and utility assistance, clothing, financial education and coaching, GED preparation and testing, job training, and more. These services stabilize families, help them heal, and put them on a pathway to long-term success.

Every gift makes a generational impact. When parents have the resources to keep their children fed and in school, cycles of poverty are broken. When families know they can count on Sharing Life, hope is restored. We are a mainstay in this community, and families trust us to be here when life becomes overwhelming.

As we enter our next chapter, Sharing Life remains committed to fighting hunger and poverty with compassion and dignity. Together, with your support, we can keep families thriving, today and for generations to come.

What makes us different

Sharing Life isn’t just about meeting needs, we’re about meeting people with compassion. Families who turn to us are often in their most vulnerable moments, and we believe dignity and respect must come first. Compassion transforms a simple act of assistance into a step toward healing and stability.

That care is matched by impact. Each year, we serve more than 60,000 individuals directly and reach over 827,000 people through our network of Community Distribution Partners. As one of only two official redistribution hubs for the North Texas Food Bank, our reach extends across 200+ zip codes in North Texas.

The people we serve are among the most marginalized in our community: seniors, veterans, individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, survivors of domestic violence, single mothers, those experiencing homelessness, and other vulnerable neighbors who need more than a meal, they need hope.

Meeting those needs at scale requires more than compassion, it requires collaboration. By partnering with organizations like Dallas College, the City of Mesquite, Mesquite ISD, the North Texas Food Bank, and many others, we combine expertise and resources to create holistic solutions that no single organization could accomplish alone.

This is what makes Sharing Life different: compassion at the front line, partnerships at the foundation, and life-changing impact felt across our entire region.

Our needs

For the second year in a row, Texas is the hungriest state in the nation. Your neighbors are counting on you—and together, we can respond.

The very best way you can help is through financial support. Sharing Life is highly efficient with funding, stretching every dollar to provide food, housing stability, and wraparound services that truly change lives. When you give, you are fueling our mission in the most powerful way.

We also rely on the generosity of those who give their time. Volunteers are the backbone of Sharing Life—welcoming families, stocking shelves, assisting in the pantry, and making sure help gets to where it’s needed most.

Finally, we gratefully accept donations of goods, including food, clothing, and household essentials, which go directly into the hands of our neighbors who need them.

No matter how you choose to give—through funds, time, or goods—you are helping families survive today and thrive tomorrow.

Mission

Sharing Life strives to end hunger and poverty by demonstrating compassion to those in need through food, clothing, financial resources, and educational programs.
