Initially created in 2015 as an LLC, Evanescent Mustang Rescue and Sanctuary has grown into one of the largest mustang focused rescues, saving close to 1,000 mustangs and burros across the U.S.!!! As founder and Executive Director of the rescue, and as a Licensed Professional Counselor, my dream for creating EMRS was to help families in Texoma through Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) with the help of rescued mustangs and burros. Â We have created two special therapeutic programs to offer healing at a deeper level of healing: Mustangs & WarHorses for Veterans/1st Responders and Jessi's Promise for troubled youth. Â We are hoping to be able to offer these programs to any and all who apply at no cost to the participants!!!
MUSTANGS & WARHORSES... where Veterans and First Responders are partnered with Mustangs helping each other heal. Â The Mustangs in our program are at different levels of healing to help the participants no matter what level of trauma they start with.
JESSI'S PROMISE... We believe that all kids should know the love of a horse. We offer a safe space, showing kindness and patience so kids can bond with and help care for horses. Â Jessi's Promise offers this opportunity for Texoma youth by pairing them up with mustangs that can teach them how to connect at a much deeper level.
Evanescent Mustang Rescue continues to help rescue at-risk mustangs and burros, many of which we hope to place in other therapeutic programs across the nation! We appreciate everyone that has been with us from the beginning and welcome any new supporters that would like to join us in this cause of promoting healing in our community and across the nation!
Evanescent Mustang Rescue and Sanctuary, initially established as an LLC in May 2015, was created for the prevention of animal cruelty through educating the public about horse care and safety. We are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of captive mustangs and burros that have been abused, neglected, or are in danger of going to slaughter. Since becoming a 501c3 non-profit organization in May 2017 the focus has expanded to include the development of our Evanescent Mustang Assisted Psychotherapy programs where the mustangs and burros, who are healing from their own traumas, can assist in the healing process for individuals and families in the greater Texoma area.
We are always in need of hay, feed and protein tubs, but this year we are also needing more panels and materials for shelters as we continue moving forward with our Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy programs!
