Plano Civic Chorus

Plano Civic Chorus is known for its consistent choral excellence. Under the direction of Dr. Allen Hightower, Artistic Director and Conductor, the 80+ member auditioned chorus has established itself as one of premiere arts groups in North Texas. The chorus's broad repertoire ranges from the songs of the Broadway stage to the great masterworks of the classical composers. The chorus performs regularly with the Plano Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, Richardson Symphony Orchestra, and Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra.

Our Needs

The organization's 90+ singers annually present a season of three or four unique programs, frequently in collaboration with the Plano Symphony Orchestra and other arts groups in the North Texas area.
Funding is requested to to defray costs of venue rental, printing, advertising, and outreach and to allow us to hire musicians for our concerts.

October 10, 2026:  'American Horizons' will feature Aeterna Via, Elaine Hagenberg’s newest large-scale work for chorus and orchestra, in one of the first performances of the composer’s new work. Following PCC’s successful performance of Hagenberg’s Illuminare last fall, the composer expressed interest in coming to Plano to be present for this performance, creating a rare opportunity for North Texas audiences, singers, students, and educators to experience a significant new American choral-orchestral work in direct conversation with its composer. PCC will be joined by the choir from Plano West Senior High and the Plano Chamber Chorus.

December 15, 2026:  Join Plano Civic Chorus for 'Tis the Season with Plano Civic Chorus,' our annual holiday concert, featuring inspiring selections from Handel's beloved Messiah. Celebrate the season with this timeless masterpiece, performed alongside special guest artists, the Children's Chorus of Collin County and Plano Chamber Chorus. Experience an unforgettable evening of beautiful music and holiday tradition for the whole family.

May 1, 2027: 'Psalms' will be an inspiring evening of choral music featuring Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms alongside additional works celebrating the rich traditions of early sacred song. The concert will also include the presentation of the Merritt Felmly Memorial Scholarships and a performance of the winning composition from PCC's Emerging Choral Composer Competition.
