At our Community Resource Closet, we are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for youth and mothers in need. We offer essential resources such as diapers, wipes, children's clothes, shoes, hygiene products, non-perishable foods, as well as information on mental health awareness, parenting classes, social and emotional learning, trauma healing and financial literacy (budgeting, credit management and saving).

In the heart of Arlington, Texas, where economic hardship and limited access to essential resources weigh heavily on many families, the Community Resource Closet has emerged as a beacon of hope and support. Launched in October 2023 by Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women, this initiative was born out of a vision to address the most basic needs of families in the community. As the impact of rising living costs and financial instability became increasingly visible, the need for a space that provided both essentials and dignity became clear. The Community Resource Closet was created not only to meet those needs but to empower families and help them on their path to resilience and growth.

The doors of the Community Resource Closet opened on a cool October morning, filled with shelves of carefully organized diapers, wipes, children’s clothing, hygiene products, and non-perishable food. Volunteers welcomed the first families warmly, guiding them through the array of items that many had struggled to afford. Each family left that day with a sense of relief and hope, knowing there was now a place they could turn to for help without judgment. For many parents, it meant they could finally allocate their limited funds toward other critical needs, like rent or utilities, without compromising their children’s well-being.

Within the first few months, word spread quickly. Families from all over Arlington and neighboring areas came to access the Closet, sharing stories of their own struggles and triumphs. Each family that visited had a unique story. There was Ana, a single mother of two, who had recently lost her job and was struggling to make ends meet. For her, the Closet was a lifeline, providing not just diapers and food but also a sense of community and understanding.

As the Closet’s impact grew, so did its vision. Seeing the potential to make a deeper impact, the team behind the Closet began dreaming of expanding services. Plans were laid out to secure a larger facility where they could add programs for career development. The goal was to empower individuals by providing job training, resume building, and other career services, helping community members achieve financial stability and long-term success. Additionally, the Closet envisioned introducing four-week workshops covering essential life skills—like budgeting, credit management, and mental wellness—so that families could learn not only to survive but to thrive.

Community partnerships played a vital role in this vision. Local businesses, nonprofits, and generous donors rallied to support the Closet, recognizing it as an essential pillar of the Arlington community. Through these partnerships, the Closet was able to keep its shelves stocked and its programs growing. Volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including retired teachers, social workers, and local college students, contributed their time, energy, and expertise. Together, they created a compassionate, safe space that truly felt like it was built by the community, for the community.
