DFWMA Launch: Founder's Birthday Drive!
$713 Raised
Founded on the principle that creative expression is a fundamental right, DFW Metropolitan Arts empowers diverse young musicians and artists through equitable access to premier visual and performing arts education. Our mission is to foster artistic excellence, leadership, and deep community connection by removing the systemic barriers that often limit entry into the arts.
We are building our capacity to offer a range of high-impact programming—spanning from instrumental music and theater to studio arts—designed to transition students from early exploration to advanced mastery. By providing world-class mentorship and a supportive community environment, we aim to cultivate not only technical skill but also the essential leadership qualities youth need to thrive in any field. At DFW Metropolitan Arts, we believe that when a young person finds their rhythm or captures their vision, they aren't just creating art; they are building a foundation for their future. We are dedicated to ensuring that every student, regardless of their socioeconomic background, has the stage, the tools, and the community support to shine.
In our inaugural season, DFWMA is forming a small symphony orchestra comprised of high school students living in Dallas County. We will serve 75 students across three divisions of instrumental music: string orchestra, wind ensemble, and percussion ensemble. DFWMA will facilitate enrollment in two semesters of applied lessons with music faculty at a local post-secondary campus, exposure to professional repertoire presented in a variety of medium, masterclasses led by mentor musicians who perform as part of professional ensemble in our community, and guided exploration in fine arts career pathways.
The mission of DFW Metropolitan Arts Inc is to empower diverse young artists through equitable access to high-quality visual and performing arts education, fostering artistic excellence, leadership, and community connection.
Our largest need is funding to cover the cost of applied lessons scholarships (est. $14,850), and our artistic personnel, which includes our masterclass teachers to prepare for each concert of the season and our creative directors for each concert of the season (est. $80,000). We are also identifying rehearsal and performance spaces to fit our larger ensembles. In order to maximize the educational experience of our students, we will need paid subscriptions to instructional technology such Music First or Make Music Cloud. Lastly, we will need to purchase and or rent the sheet music we perform as well as licensing needed for public performance and streaming.
DFWMA is committed to serve young artists without regard to race, color, creed or national origin; we welcome any young artist who subscribes to the objectives and policies of the organization.
