Founded in 2014, the YLSC annual racial justice & equity youth summit brings together 9th - 12th grade students from public, private, and charter schools from across the Dallas area to spark dialogue, awareness, engagement, and equip them to advocate for racial justice and equity in their schools, communities and beyond.

There is no cost to students and we work with local districts, organizations, and adult allies to ensure cost and transportation are never a barrier to participation.

Facilitated by local educators, artists, and historians, Young Leaders, Strong City training offers students the opportunity to critically engage with their peers from different backgrounds and identities. Each YLSC program begins by grounding students in their local history, and explores their individual concept of race and identity. We encourage students to deconstruct racism, analyze its role in our lives and world, and to develop ideas and strategies around creating racial justice and the development of an action plan for change.

Our Needs

$250 donation sponsors one student's participation (All students attend free), Additionally YLSC is seeking funding to support YLSC programming costs including, our annual summit and monthly programming. Funding will support: T-shirts, food donations to feed students while participating in YLSC programming, facilitator costs, facility rental fees and staff costs. YLSC is also seeking board members to be involved
