TRM's target population is minority, low-income students in grades K-12, primarily from the 75212 zip code who are at-risk for gang involvement, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, criminal activity, and dropping out of school. TRM is, by far, West Dallas' largest afterschool provider, offering 33% of the slots available from a total of 17 providers. Nevertheless, nearly 5,500 school-age West Dallas children have no place to go after school. When students and families attend TRM, they SUCCEED, as evidenced by:
- 95% avg. retention rate
- 95% avg. promotion rate
- 98% avg. high school graduation rate
- 90% avg. college enrollment rate
- 75% avg. parent involvement

Since 1988, TRM programs have provided a safe environment for students to explore their interests and creativity, engage with supportive volunteers and staff, gain exposure to new concepts and opportunities, and develop and implement new academic and life skills. While in our programs, students receive consistent academic, personal, and social-emotional support that helps them imagine broader possibilities for their future. Students are guided through school expectations, exposed early to STEM and college, provided supportive, positive tutor and mentor relationships, and confidence-building college and career experiences. These tactics, combined with intentional parent engagement, ensure our students' chances for success in school and life are considerably higher than other West Dallas kids.

"A scholarship from TRM makes being a college graduate possible. No matter how smart you are, the financial burden of college on your family plays a big role on whether deciding to apply. Before we even attempt it, we have it in our mind that it'd be too difficult on you and your family so you don't even apply. With the financial help from TRM, students like me are encouraged to apply and, because of them, I'm now a college graduate travelling the country as a guerilla marketer for Jimmy John's."
~ Michelle Facundo, TRM Class of 2013, BS in Advertising from University of Texas at Austin

"The scholarship is giving me a better chance at changing my circumstances. It's a relief to know I have an organization like TRM and its supporters at my corner rooting for my success."
~ Gerardo, TRM Class of 2016, currently attending Sam Houston State University

"The B&A Scholarship impacted my life by giving me a goal to work towards. It showed me that the things you want aren't given to you, but earned."
~ Mariana Paniagua, TRM Class of 2017, currently attending University of North Texas at Denton

"All three of my younger siblings attend and are all now in the Believe & Achieve program. In addition to my younger siblings, I have approximately 14 cousins that also attend the Mission. It has helped open many doors for me and my family, and that is an impact that we will be able to return to this community to make it a better place...Without our donors, mentors, and volunteers, the kids and families of West Dallas could not have greater opportunities to get ahead in life; for that we are and will always be eternally grateful. Everything they give is truly appreciated and valued. Whether it is a monetary donation, school supplies or their time, it all affects the ability for TRM to help this community. THANK YOU!"
~ Laura Torres, TRM Class of 2007, J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law
