The Stewpot offers a safe haven for homeless and at-risk individuals of Dallas, providing resources for basic survival needs, as well as opportunities to start a new life.

Equity Statement

The Executive Director of The Stewpot is on the Executive Council of the Homeless Collaborative that includes the City of Dallas and Housing First NTX. As an organization, The Stewpot continues to participate in Racial Healing Circles, educational opportunities, organizational assessments, and coaching to be more sensitive to the clients we serve. Our staff at The Stewpot, and the leadership at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, mirror the clients we serve in ethnicity and gender.

Additionally, we include space for clients on our Board, because we value their lived experience and input at the highest level. We continue to further our knowledge through focus groups of clients. Our work is based on Trauma Informed Care and we want to always be listening to those we serve to see how our policies and practices can improve and reflect the people with whom we work.

Staff diversity, and particularly leadership by staff who reflect the community and clients we serve, is of the utmost importance to us. Our employment practices include making sure our employment postings are sent to organizations which represent professionals with marginalized identities through Linked In and directly to those organizations. We have diverse candidates and the staff who have been hired and/or promoted represent the diversity of the community. Further, The Stewpot promotes from within and provides continuing education and leadership development across the board for staff of all ethnicity and economic backgrounds.
