Three caring women, Romona Upfield, Glenna Grimmer and Anna Leslie Richardson formed The Civic League in 1963. Recognizing the many opportunities for service that such a rapidly growing community would have, these women foresaw an organization sensitive to a community's specific needs, serving where no other funding was available.

The purpose of this organization is educational, charitable, and cultural. We assist the city, the schools and the community at large by promoting and engaging in philanthropic activities. We serve the citizens of Addison, Carrollton and Farmers Branch.

Our donations began with $600 in 1964 given to the City of Farmers Branch for the first irrigation system for Don Showman field. We have grown with our community and now include the cities of Addison, Carrollton and the cities of CFB ISD, including Irving, Coppell & Dallas.

We have given over $2.8 million as of 2018.

These gifts have benefited various community needs: our schools, the local arts, children, seniors and people at risk, and graduating seniors. We are dedicated to maintaining our reputation as a successful charitable organization by providing funds that go directly to our recipients.

Since 1963, The Civic League Foundation, Inc. has given out more than $1.5 million in scholarships to students from Addison, Carrollton and Farmers Branch which have helped the young people achieve their educational goals. Each spring, graduating seniors and previous recipients who are continuing in college or secondary education training apply for the scholarships. Civic League members conduct interviews with applicants at their schools and make their selections based on financial need, educational performance, maturity, and goals.

Mary Immaculate Catholic School - With the many heartbreaking incidents of school violence, we are especially thankful for your generous donation toward security cameras and networking for our school. Because of you our children, parents and staff are safer.

Mosaic - Thank you very much for awarding Mosaic with a generous grant. With this funding, we will be able to make repairs and update appliances for our Carrollton group home. The women from the home wanted to express their gratitude for supporting us and other amazing organizations.

Camp Summit - The Board of Directors and staff at Camp Summit would like to thank The Civic League for the generous gift given in support of our 2018 Campership and Financial Assistance project. With this support, Camp Summit will be able to provide the financial assistance many of our campers with disabilities from the Metrocrest area request, so they can attend a camping program designed specifically for their unique needs. Participating in a camping program is fun and full of new adventures. Camp is the place where you can be a leader, be a teammate, make a friend, and experience nature first hand while gaining independence and practicing social skills throughout each day. The camping program also provides caregivers much needed respite from their responsibilities to enjoy a rare and special time for themselves.

Children's Advocacy Center - Thank you so much for your gift to help us purchase a Smart Board. Your contribution will help empower child abuse victims, their families, and our community through education, healing and justice. Because of you, we can ensure no child abuse victim is without the resources they need and that our community is prepared to help break the cycle of child abuse.
