As a Reproductive Justice Organization, our mission is to serve Black Women and girls by transforming their relationship with their sexual and reproductive health via addressing the consequences of reproductive oppression. The Afiya Center believes Reproductive Justice is a platform to create advocacy that is informed, self-actualized, and protects women reproductive health rights and justice.
Our programs utilize a economic justice framework to center the expereince of marginilized women affected by poverty and other social determinants of health. In other words, The Afiya Center seeks to decrease reproductive health issues such as HIV risks and access to abortions, while simultaneouslyaddressing the negative reproductive health outcomes among Black Women in Texas, such as poverty and access to education.
