Self-love programming is important because so many people move through life carrying messages that tell them they are not enough, that they should shrink themselves or that they need permission to be who they are. I have watched people enter the Self-Love Circle feeling guarded, disconnected and unsure of their worth. One of the most powerful moments is seeing someone who was initially afraid to speak begin sharing their story, participating in affirmations and accepting encouragement from the group. By the end of the circle, they are smiling, connecting with others and beginning to recognize the strength that has always lived within them.
I host the Self-Love Circle at Finn’s Place because our transgender and gender-diverse community deserves a safe, affirming and judgment-free environment where people can be fully seen and supported. The circle reminds participants that they are not alone and gives them practical tools to build confidence, practice self-compassion and form meaningful connections. Watching people leave feeling lighter, stronger and more hopeful shows me that self-love is not selfish—it is necessary, and it can transform an entire community. — Coach Dee
