The Fort Worth chapter of Native Prairies Association of Texas formed as a result of the synergy and excitement generated at the State of the Prairie conference held in Fort Worth in May of 2014. The North Central Texas area has its share of prairie folks, but they weren’t tightly connected and aimed towards a common goal.
Now, the Fort Worth chapter is weaving together local prairie professionals, educators, conservationists, landowners, students, and members of the public in an effort to conserve, restore, protect, and educate our community about the importance of the historic prairies of North Central Texas.
We cover 14 North Texas counties, including Tarrant, Denton, Cooke, Montague, Wise, Parker, Hood, Johnson, Somervell, Hill, Erath, Palo Pinto, Jack, and Clay.
