Everyone Should Have a Seat in the Boa

Rowing has long been seen as an elite sport — reserved for those with access to water, equipment, and club fees. As Arshay Cooper, author of A Most Beautiful Thing and RowDallas partner, reminds us: "Talent is everywhere, but access and opportunity are not."

RowDallas exists to close that gap. We bring rowing directly into South Dallas schools — teaching students first to swim, then to row — and we remove every barrier in between: transportation, coaching, equipment, and scholarships. In the past year alone, Dallas United Crew provided $132,689 in financial assistance so kids from every part of our city could take a seat in the boat.

And what they gain goes far beyond medals: teamwork, resilience, and leadership that stay with them long after the boats are back on the rack. Since 2019, RowDallas has put hundreds of students on the water, with support from Dick's Sporting Goods, the A Most Beautiful Thing Inclusion Fund, Wingstop Charities, and a dedicated full-time RowDallas coach.
