Everyone needs a place where they belong.

A place where people know your name. Where your talents matter. Where there is meaningful work to do and someone is counting on you to show up.

For adults living with serious mental illness, that kind of community can be difficult to find. Mental illness can interrupt education and employment, strain relationships, contribute to housing instability, and leave people profoundly isolated from the communities around them.

Cowtown Clubhouse exists to change that.

Since opening in Fort Worth in 2019, Cowtown Clubhouse has provided adults from all over Tarrant County with a welcoming community where they can build meaningful relationships, pursue their goals, and move toward greater independence.

And it starts with something simple but powerful: membership.

At Cowtown Clubhouse, the people we serve are not patients or clients. They are members. Following the evidence-based Clubhouse International model, members and staff work side by side as colleagues, sharing responsibility for the daily life of the Clubhouse and discovering the strengths each person brings to the community.

We call this the work-ordered day. Members might help prepare a nutritious communal meal, welcome visitors, answer phones, work on administrative projects, care for the Clubhouse space, or contribute to other work that keeps the community running. Along the way, members develop skills, confidence, friendships, and routines that can support their recovery far beyond the Clubhouse walls.

Cowtown Clubhouse also helps members pursue employment and education, participate in wellness activities, navigate housing and community resources, and reconnect with the wider community. Through Transitional Employment partnerships with local employers, members can take supported steps back into the workforce and experience the dignity and independence that come with meaningful paid work.

But perhaps the most important thing Cowtown Clubhouse offers cannot be captured by a program description.

It is the experience of being expected. Being valued. Being needed.

In 2026, Cowtown Clubhouse entered an exciting new chapter by moving into a dedicated facility. This new home gives us the opportunity to welcome more members, strengthen employment and wellness opportunities, expand the role of our communal kitchen, and build an even stronger community of recovery in Fort Worth.

Now we need our wider community to help make that possible.

On North Texas Giving Day, your gift helps keep the doors to belonging open. It supports the staff and daily operations that sustain our Clubhouse, nutritious meals shared around the table, employment and educational opportunities, wellness programming, housing stabilization and resource navigation, and the meaningful work through which members rediscover their abilities and pursue their goals.

When you give to Cowtown Clubhouse, you are investing in more than programs. You are helping create a community in which adults living with serious mental illness can be recognized not for a diagnosis, but for what they can contribute.

A community where people have a place to go.
