Libraries are palaces for the people. They're where kids discover their first favorite book, where neighbors learn new skills, and where communities come together. But the Dallas Public Library system is facing severe budget cuts, putting that mission at risk.
Friends of the Dallas Public Library steps in to fund the programming that makes our libraries so special; turning them from buildings full of books into true community hubs. A vibrant Dallas deserves vibrant libraries, and Dallas libraries need our support.
With the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, I am able to help our libraries serve as the same important resource for our community and our next generation. The Friends have existed for over 75 years and have provided funds for various programs and projects. From capital campaigns for buildings to bookmobiles, they've done a little bit of everything. Current highlights include SMART Summer Reading, library staff development, branch support, early childhood literacy, vibrant neighborhoods and multicultural programming, and adult education opportunities.
