Help Us Keep the Hanan Ali Lacy "Carry the Torch" Scholarship Going

$28,000

raised by 8 people

We're raising money for Education is Freedom's An Evening with the Stars scholarship program to help launch Class of 2027 EIF Scholars onto their postsecondary paths. Throughout the school year, EIF Scholars complete monthly mentorship and personal development opportunities designed to prepare them for life after high school and ensure their postsecondary success. Participating students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate leadership, character, and drive.

Through philanthropic investments, Education is Freedom provides students who complete the program with flexible scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 upon proof of enrollment in an accredited postsecondary institution. EIF Scholarship recipients typically use their funds to afford costs not typically covered by financial aid, such as books, supplies, moving expenses, and other essentials that make the difference between showing up and staying in college.

At our 2026 An Evening with the Stars celebration, we awarded scholarships totaling over $150,000 to 192 exceptional EIF Scholars, including Isabela, who received the Jim and Margo Keyes Scholarship and is now attending Baylor, and Carlos, who received the inaugural multi-year employee-funded Hanan Ali Lacy “Carry the Torch” Scholarship and is now attending Tufts University. Both students have reported that our scholarship funds were critical to their enrollment in college, reducing their dependence on loans.

Every dollar we contribute will go to scholarships for students like Isabela and Carlos. Ultimately, we need to raise $150,000 by April 2027 to support 150+ students. Toward that amount, Education is Freedom has set a goal of raising $50,000 by the close of North Texas Giving Day (September 17). Contribute today to give the Class of 2027 EIF Scholars their chance at extra resources that may make all the difference in their transition from high school to college. Please join EIF in investing in Dallas County students' futures.
