Building Families

Grace House is blessed with growing opportunities to minister to our community, more families in need of support after their life decision. Our team began to feel the strain of our existing space at 919 Eureka Street in Weatherford as early as 2018. We have made creative use of what we have to minister as effectively as possible, but the square footage can only be stretched so far. 

Parenting classes and material assistance are in a shared space. Clients cannot select items they have earned while classes are underway. We have held group class sessions which reached the building’s occupancy in a single room. We could scarcely fit another chair. We lack smaller parent meeting spaces for one-on-one parent education we would like to facilitate and for lay counseling our clients often seek from us. 

We added a third storage shed to the property. Our one conference room space is also used for donation sorting, event prep, volunteer projects, parenting classes, volunteer interviews, etc. It is affectionately nicknamed “Shed 4”. On occasion, an employee has come to the office for a scheduled meeting and found no space available for use. Board meetings are often held off-site for lack of room. In short, our existing space limits the quality of our services to growing families, and it impairs essential ministry operations. 

Our Board of Directors has considered several opportunities to add space, and last year, they felt led to reach out to the landlord of the Eureka Street location we had leased for the past 10 years to inquire about purchasing the property with plans to build. He graciously accepted the offer at a very favorable price, and Grace House purchased it in a cash sale. 

We are in the engineering phase of a project that will take us from 2,700 square feet of ministry space to 8,300 square feet! The new building includes ample material assistance space separate from the classroom, better privacy for clients, rooms for one-on-one counseling and education, adequate donation receiving, sorting, and storage space, more ministry staff offices and workspace, and importantly, room to grow. The new building’s key feature is a large classroom space for new and expecting moms and dads to be equipped with all they need to parent well. 

This new building will position Grace House to serve more families and to serve them more effectively. It will mean more sweet babies are welcomed into this world by moms and dads prepared and excited to receive them. It will provide space for more gospel conversations. With the Lord’s help, this will be a life-giving space for years to come.
