Huckleberry had a double whammy, he was heart worm positive AND he had a very large growth on his neck.
Huckleberry came to us through way of another rescue. He needed to be rescued from his rescue. His amazing foster committed to him and wanted to keep helping him and transferred to FWAAA to do so. After heart worm treatment, we scheduled Huckleberry for an extensive surgery to remove a 4 pound mass from his neck. IMAGINE the relief when he no longer had 4 pounds weighing his neck down?! Huckleberry healed fast and immediately found his forever home.
Without supporters like YOU, we would not be able to give others relief as we did Huck. Between our supporters funding his surgery, his great vet team and his foster home to continue support during healing, he was able to find a better life and leave his old life of neglect far behind.
Providing critical medical care, what we call "Major Medical", is one of the most important and urgent parts of our rescue mission. When a pet arrives at a shelter with serious medical needs, they’re often out of options. They can’t be adopted through the usual process, and without a rescue willing to step in, their future is heartbreaking. That’s when we say yes. Whether it's heartworm treatment, a limb amputation, or a complex lifesaving surgery, we believe every animal deserves a chance to heal, to hope, and to feel love again. These procedures can be costly, but to us, and to them, they are priceless.
We can't do this alone. Every surgery, every recovery, every second chance we provide is made possible by people like you. Your generosity helps cover the cost of care and gives these animals the future they never thought they’d have.
Please consider making a donation. Together, we can turn suffering into healing and give these brave pets the lives they truly deserve!
