At just 3 years old, Magnolia Mae is already fighting for her life. She is severely emaciated, heartworm positive, and her belly is full of fluid caused by advanced heart disease.
Our vet partner, Vickery Place Animal Hospital, tapped her abdomen and removed over 1.5 liters of fluid to help her breathe and move more comfortably. This gentle girl wagged her tail through it all, soaking up love despite the pain she’s endured. Right now, Magnolia Mae is responding to treatment and has already had more fluid drained to keep her comfortable. The road ahead is uncertain — she may need lifelong medication, and depending on her diagnostics, she could be considered a fospice pup.
But what we know for sure is this:
- Magnolia Mae deserves peace, comfort, and the chance to feel safe and loved.
- With support, she could still have more happy years ahead.
- She needs all of us to make that possible.
At The Love Pit, this is what we do. We don’t turn away. We don’t give up.
This is Thrive.
This is Magnolia Mae.
