The People’s Institute for the Common Good began with a simple belief: some of the most important conversations about our communities need more room to happen.

Too often, conversations about education, work, opportunity, and civic life are shaped by institutions and systems without creating enough space for people to come together, share their experiences, challenge assumptions, and imagine something better.

PICG was created to help change that.

We began by bringing people together through conversations, learning experiences, and community programs. Along the way, we saw something powerful: when people have the opportunity to learn with one another and engage meaningful questions, new ideas emerge—and so do new possibilities.

Today, PICG is growing into a research and learning institute focused on the questions that shape how we live, work, learn, and participate in our communities.

Our work centers on Postsecondary Education & Work and Lifelong Learning & Civic Life, but at the heart of everything we do is the same question:

What becomes possible when we create spaces for people to think, learn, and imagine together?

North Texas is home to extraordinary people, ideas, and possibilities. We believe the future of our communities should be shaped through conversation, curiosity, learning, and a commitment to the common good.

And we believe everyone has a role in creating that future.
