❤️ Why I’m Fundraising for FLEAS

I’ve always been an animal person, but I knew that volunteering in a shelter wasn’t the right fit for me. What was the right fit was helping pets before they ever end up in a shelter — and that’s exactly what Friends of Little Elm Animal Support (FLEAS) makes possible.

The first time I saw a dog at an event who had received a surgery I helped schedule, I felt this spark of, “Oh… this matters. I helped change this one pet’s entire future.” Since then, we've booked over 200 surgeries and that feeling has never gone away. Every bag of pet food, every microchip, every spay/neuter appointment — it all adds up to real, daily impact for families and pets in our community.

These moments of impact are why I keep showing up. I want every pet, not just the lucky ones like mine, to have the chance to feel safe, cared for, and yes, a little bit spoiled.

🐾 What FLEAS Does for Our Community

FLEAS is a small, all‑volunteer nonprofit with a big mission: keep pets out of shelters by supporting the families who love them.  

Your donation helps provide:

• Free spay/neuter surgeries that prevent unwanted litters and reduce shelter intake
• Free microchips so lost pets make it home safely
• Free vaccinations that keep community pets healthy
• Emergency Pet Food Pantry, which supports hundreds of families each month
  

These programs directly strengthen Little Elm and surrounding communities by reducing shelter overcrowding, supporting responsible pet ownership, and helping families stay together.

🐶 What FLEAS Does for Shelter Pets

Even though FLEAS focuses on keeping pets out of shelters, we also play a big role in helping the pets who are already there. Little Elm Animal Services works hard for the animals in their care, and FLEAS is proud to support their efforts in ways that make a real difference.

Your donation helps shelter pets through:

• Pet Spotlights & Marketing Support: FLEAS boosts visibility for adoptable pets through social media, digital billboards and community outreach, improving their chances of finding their people.
• Adoption Subsidies When Space Gets Tight: When the shelter is full, FLEAS steps in to cover a portion of the adoption fees, helping animals move into loving homes faster and giving the shelter breathing room to care for incoming pets.
  
• Emergency Medical Support: Some shelter pets arrive injured, sick, or needing specialized care. FLEAS provides funding for urgent medical needs so these animals can recover and have a real chance at adoption.
• Rescue Partnerships: FLEAS connects shelter animals needing extra time or specialized care with rescue groups, giving them foster homes and stronger adoption opportunities.
