Borrowed Belief Changes Everything

Before finding their way to Selah Creek, the mothers we serve face an uphill battle. Many arrive without a reliable support system, from unsafe or unstable environments, and carrying the heavy weight of past trauma. When you are doing it completely alone, navigating chaos and confusion, it is incredibly difficult to see a way out or imagine a different kind of life. Mama V wrote:

"When I was six months pregnant, I prayed and asked God to send help, because I could no longer help myself. I had nothing but my baby and my faith... I needed to heal. And God answered that prayer through Selah Creek."

The focus of this campaign is a profound truth experienced by the women who walk through our doors: Borrowed Belief Changes Everything.

When a mother arrives here, she often cannot see her own potential. Her past has convinced her that she is trapped in a cycle that is impossible to escape. But our staff, our volunteers, and our community look at her and see something different. We don’t just see who she is in her brokenness; we see who she can become, and we never give up on that vision. As one of our residents, Mama D, shared:

"There were times I didn’t believe in myself, but someone else did, and that helped me keep going. I borrowed their belief until it became my own—and that changed the course of our lives forever."

When a woman is surrounded by people who believe in her, she gains the confidence and strength she needs to achieve lasting change. Where before she couldn't hope for anything different, now she sees what her life could be.

Your financial support on North Texas Giving Day does so much more than fund a program. It provides the stability, structure, encouragement, and accountability that a mother needs to rebuild her life from the ground up. Through our program, these women have been able to overcome generational cycles, grow deeply in their relationship with God, and celebrate incredible milestones like continuous sobriety, earning GEDs, passing driver's license tests, receiving professional business certifications, and completing their first years of college toward a Bachelor's degree in Business.

They are breaking cycles by buying their very first cars on their own and actively saving for down payments on permanent homes. Most importantly, they are experiencing the joy of present motherhood—giving their children a safe, consistent, and thriving environment where they can laugh, grow, and celebrate life's sweet moments together. As Mama V wrote:

"You celebrated my son’s first birthday. You gave me a birthday party, a graduation party, and recently, you blessed me with a car. Those moments meant more to me than words can fully express—they reminded me that I am seen, valued, and loved."

Today, these mothers are moving forward with a real support system—people who truly love them and their children, who will walk alongside them in life, and not just for a season.

This North Texas Giving Day, every single dollar raised goes directly toward providing housing, training, education, and basic essentials for families like these. 

Consistency and community matter because building a stable life takes time. When you give, you are telling an unsupported mother: “I believe in you. I will walk alongside you, not just for a season, but for life.”
