$500 goal
I'm trying to raise $500 to go toward Christ's Haven's trauma-informed, family model of care for displaced youth. We take care of kids when their family isn't able. Sometimes that's just for six months or sometimes six years, depending on how much time that family needs to stabilize.
This picture is a couple years old but is one of my favorites from my time working at Christ's Haven. One of the most special aspects of Christ's Haven is that sibling groups can stay together. As an option outside of traditional foster care, we have the unique ability to keep sibling groups together. Even a sibling group of four. In traditional foster care, chances are they would be split up and move around. I am grateful that at Christ's Haven, siblings can stay in each other's lives.
I have had the honor to meet so many wonderful kids, teens, and young adults the past six years. Your donation helps provide Normalcy, Dignity, and Hope in each of their lives.
Donations to Christ's Haven fund the following programs:
Residential Program (ages 0-18):
Seeing the need for an option outside of traditional foster care, Christ’s Haven has been able to serve a unique population of families who often don’t have available resources. Families and kids come to Christ’s Haven for a variety of reasons, but typically there has been some type of abuse, neglect, or the family is unable to take care of the child. Each child lives in one of the seven family-model houses in our neighborhood of homes with a married couple as houseparents and around 5-8 children or teens.
Whether a child lives at Christ’s Haven for six months or sixteen years, we utilize that time loving them as our own and instilling normalcy, dignity, and hope into their lives.
College & Career Readiness (ages 18-24):
An 18-year old shouldn’t be expected to figure out how to launch into adulthood on their own. Christ’s Haven offers an alternative for teens who would otherwise age out of the foster care system. Teens and young adults are provided with housing, transportation, tuition support, and access to critical tools and skills needed.
This comprehensive program provides the platform for a successful launch into adulthood. All while they gain independence and maturity with someone supporting and cheering them along.
Family Resource Center:
All families go through challenging times. Christ’s Haven’s Family Resource Center (FRC) was created to stand in the gap for local families in need. This program provides a preventative component to help keep families together.
Christ’s Haven staff work with families individually and are able to provide food boxes from our Food Pantry, counseling, parent/caregiver education, crisis resources, and case management.
