Every year, Spectrum invites composers from around the world to send us something new.
Through SPECTRUM DISCOVERS!, our annual Composition Award, we select a winning work, bring it to life with professional musicians and share it with our audience. This season began with one of those discoveries: Robert Denham’s Sonata (Transformatio) for trumpet and piano, performed on Spectrum concerts just this week.
But at Spectrum, discovery means much more than new music.
For more than 40 years, Spectrum has put musicians at the heart of chamber music. Our programs begin with music our artists are excited to play and share, creating performances that are personal, eclectic and often unexpected. Audiences might discover a forgotten gem, an unfamiliar composer, a surprising combination of instruments or a new way of hearing a familiar work.
Discovery also takes us beyond the concert hall. Through community partnerships and educational programs, we bring professional musicians to new audiences throughout North Texas, including free live classical music for children in underserved communities. Sometimes the discovery is the music itself.
Your North Texas Giving Day gift supports all of it: professional musicians, adventurous programming, new music, community partnerships and opportunities to introduce more people to what chamber music can be.
There’s always something to discover at Spectrum. Help make the next discovery possible.
