Restoring the Prairie for Future Generations

Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is committed to protecting and restoring one of the most endangered ecosystems in North America—the Blackland Prairie.

This North Texas Giving Day, our goal is to raise $10,000 for prairie conservation to help restore and strengthen this important habitat. Funds will support the purchase of native seed, site preparation, and the work needed to prepare portions of the prairie for a future prescribed burn—an important land-management tool that helps support healthy native grassland ecosystems.

The prairie is more than a beautiful landscape. It provides critical habitat for raptors, pollinators, native plants, small mammals, insects, and countless other species that depend on healthy grasslands to survive. As development continues to reduce and fragment native habitat across North Texas, protecting and restoring what remains has become increasingly important.

Through our Prairie Conservation efforts, BPRC works to restore native grasses and wildflowers, improve habitat quality, manage invasive species, and create a healthier, more resilient ecosystem for wildlife. Prairie restoration requires thoughtful preparation, ongoing stewardship, dedicated staff and volunteers, specialized equipment, and the resources to continually invest in the land.
