Twenty-five years ago, Angie moved to West Dallas and immediately was overwhelmed with the vast number of animals in distress in the community. She began her rescuing efforts around injured and stray animals and has become an enormous resource in the neighborhood as her role has grown to include assisting chained yard dogs with food, water, and shelter; animals who belong to families who are loving but low on resources; providing transport and financial support for spay/neuter; educating people on proper care for animals; and managing feral cat colonies; among others.
Angie's Friends was formed to provide financial support for all this work and together, we've helped hundreds of dogs and cats in addition to a few chickens, turtles, ducks, and rabbits over the years. We have stepped up to help provide vet services of various kinds to families requesting aid who want to keep their pets, but because of financial struggles cannot afford ongoing needed vet services as well as assistance with everything from food to surrendering animals to any myriad of medical issues such as tumor removal, treatment of heartworm, amputations, flea control, antibiotics, deworming, and mange.
The Angie's Friends adoption fees cover a portion of the typical standard vetting for stray or abandoned animals (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, and flea and heartworm preventative), but are not substantial enough to support the larger vet bills.
As part of NTGD 2025, we are so lucky to have a matching grant challenge! If we can raise $20,000 (including all NTGD donations in September 2025), we can get a very generous match and continue to help so many West Dallas animals who have no where else to turn.
